Grip Department
Responsible for the equipment that helps to lift or hoist cameras and lighting.
Grips are responsible for camera movement. Before shooting begins, they work with the Director of Photography to make a plan for all the equipment that will be needed to support the cameras in each scene. They design, build and operate the camera rigs, dollies, cranes or other such equipment, as well as any rigs required to achieve lighting techniques or effects. They work closely with members of the Electrical and Camera departments to execute the Director’s and DoP’s vision.
