Programmes
Over nearly two decades, we’ve developed many unique programmes to serve different audiences, each tailored to meet that particular group’s needs. All our programmes are completely free of charge, and are available in English and French. Every programme offers an exciting opportunity to discover a world of Canadian film.
Each year, we serve teachers and students, youth, new Canadians of all ages, community organizations of all kinds (from libraries to legion halls, and the general public). Over 2,000,000 Canadians participate in our programmes every year.
Our Films in Our Schools
Our founding programme allows educators across Canada to show Canadian films to their students, from JK to Grade 12, in both English and French, at any time during the school year. Our Film Lending Library provides a curated list of film titles for many grade levels and audiences.
Indigenous Film Programme
Indigenous-made content is seamlessly integrated into all of our programmes, but there is also great value in highlighting these films through focused initiatives. This programme provides an opportunity for dialogue, cross-cultural exchange and greater understanding.
Welcome to Canada
Our programme for English-language learners of all ages has proven to be a powerful way to help newcomers understand and connect to Canadian culture in a way that is meaningful, welcoming and immediate.
Reel Opportunities
Designed to expose young people to the hundreds of career opportunities in the Canadian film industry, this innovative programme includes resources, workshops and much more for young people aged 15 to 30.
National Canadian Film Day
CanFilmDay is REEL CANADA’s coast-to-coast-to-coast celebration of Canadian film. Over a thousand screenings take place annually (in fact, it’s the world’s largest film festival). On April 19, 2023, CanFilmDay will be celebrating its 10th anniversary.
