NATIONAL CANADIAN FILM DAY

OUR 10th ANNIVERSARY IS

Watch the highlights from National Canadian Film Day 2022.

The national Canadian film day story

When the first National Canadian Film Day (CanFilmDay) took place in 2014, we were thrilled to have 70 screenings across the country.  Since then, the Day has grown to include more than a thousand community screenings annually, attended by tens of thousands of Canadians. Another two and a half million watch a Canadian film each year on broadcast or streaming.

Our screening events take place in all sorts of venues, including community centres, libraries, retirement homes, museums, legion halls, military bases, and, of course, movie theatres! We also have special programming for schools and newcomers, including livestreams featuring filmmaker Q&As.

CanFilmDay is also a global event, with embassies and missions around the world coming together to show Canadian films in their countries.

With so many ways to participate, there’s no better time to watch a Canadian film.

National Canadian Film Day’s 10th anniversary is April 19, 2023.
